249 is not a bad price for what the PSP can do. It's still not as savvy as a PocketPC when it comes to bells and whistles, but then again, the good pocketPC's start at 399.
The reason I liken it to a PocketPC, besides it's pricepoint, is because it offers it's users more than just games, rather, it's more of a multimedia companion, very much like the new PocketPCs.
In that respect, there's one fatal flaw with the PSP in order to truly take advantage of all it has to offer, and that's it's storage medium, Sony Memory Sticks. These things are really expensive, don't offer as much storage as SD, and are limited to just being used in Sony products.
It's going to cost you an additional 150 dollars for enough storage to encode your own movies. Not a biggie if you've got lots of sony products already, like a Clie or Cybershot, but for the rest of us who have unified our portable storage mediums to CF or SD, the PSP is just going to become a money pit.
