White!

Of course, this is currently Japam-only. I doubt, though, that Sony would hold out on us North Americans. We'll see.

At last, SCE has announced that a new color will be available for PSP owners to covet, perhaps collect, and carry around to become the envy of all around. Called "Ceramic White", the second PSP color is a soft white-colored system, with trimmings all adjusted to fit the color scheme. In the same way that the original jet-black PSP could get none more black, this PSP is as sunny as a Mirabella with a new Metroid, featuring a white control stick, clear buttons on a white backing, even white in the speaker grills. To add to the PSP's new sunny disposition, a new Ceramic White version of the PSP pouch are being made to go along with the system, and a special new PSP accessory pouch (a mini-pouch for holding your UMDs and assorted odds and ends) will also be made available separately.

The Ceramic White PSP is being released in Japan on September 15, 2005 -- interestingly enough, this was highlighted in the meeting as being a planned release to go side-by-side with the new PSP edition of Winning Eleven 9 (they must have high hopes for that baby ... don't let them down, Konami!) It will only be available in Japan at first as part of a PSP Value Pack (including a Memory Stick, white pouch and strap, AC adapter, batterpack, headphones and the like), and will retail for about the same price as a standard PSP package at 24,800 yen (about $250). SCE's official press release in Japan states that this is just the first of perhaps other color variations, and we can't wait to see how this system looks dressed up in even more exotic colors.
