All the ratings are my opinion, but I think that the PSP has the larger
range of titles to choose from, and that the big brand names like the ea
titles will be better on the psp, as the psp has a better and bigger screen
and the games are easy to port to because the button layout is fairly the
same.
On the DS, developers have to try harder to innovate and to make use of the
touch screen, dual screen, microphone. They can't get away with ports like
on the psp, and if they try to, the games are not very good. Look at need
for speed, spiderman, splinter cell. When the DS goes online, for free, games
like animal crossing and mario kart will be great!
The PSP is better as a media player than the ds, with internet, movies, and
music straight out of the box, but do you really want to carry a £180 system
as fragile as the psp with you? Does this mean that you will be sat at home
playing it most of the time, playing on inferior ports of the games you can
play on your ps2 on a bigger screen at the same house?? The DS on the other
hand is very durable, and, although most of the titles are familiar franchises,
are sure to be different to the console versions.
The PSP has much better graphical power than the DS, although Nintendo's
console can still produce some pretty impressive stuff. Another good thing
about the DS is that it uses cards instead of UMD discs, meaning non existent
loading time for most game, unlike the PSP..
The disadvantage of the cards is that you cannot store as much data, so although
the DS can produce good graphics, most developers will choose to dumb them down
a bit to improve the length of the games. But I think gameplay is more important
than graphics anyhow.
I know I am slightly biased as I like Nintendo more than Sony, but I think I
have looked at the good and bad points of each system, and have come to the
conclusion that the PSP is not worth shelling out another £200 for, as I have
a system that is arguably better already. After all, you can only play one
system at a time!!!!
