I don't know how a console could beat the capabilities of a PC, except in the case of highly advanced proprietary hardware not available for PC yet (like the 9 core CPU Sony has that nobody knows how to develop for yet). As far as gameplay goes, and in almost every case graphics and processing power, PC is far ahead. If you don't consider money, a PC can be modded with any controller type imaginable, any kind of monitor, any kind of audio setup, and of coarse the ease of patches and mods as well as freeware and demos, those features are much harder to do with a console and in most cases impossible. If a console does take the lead over PC, it'll be shortlived before PC catches up and takes a lead 10x as great (unless they start releasing consoles every 2 years at the very least). Also with the prices of the consoles, PC is gaining the advantage of affordable performance, especially for custom builders that know where to shop.
The only reason I'd buy a console is if it's got some fun gameplay I can't quite get on PC, and the Rev is the only console with that potential to end up in my hands due to the unique games and gameplay, but it's not really high on my list and I'm stuck around $50 without income, so it might be awhile.
