I see your point, but unlike most companies (PC software companies come to mind), Nintendo hasn't been monopolizing with high prices or poor quality products, so I think the competition of Sony would effect Nintendo either slightly better, or if Sony manages to get the upper hand (a huge risk considering all the Sony types out there and the vast supply of money Sony has) Nintendo could easily make a turn for the worse in their attampts to make a comeback (I've seen some of it already). Yes, competition is good for almost every industry, but in this case I just don't think it'll make Nintendo much better than it would've been otherwise, and the risk of turning them sour is a scary thought.
