Yeah I tried Debian before giving Ubuntu a try because my bro has it and he was insisting that I try it, but when I did it ran into a strange installation problem, I think it was that it couldn't detect the CD drive even though it was running through the entire pre-installation from the CD.

I think my demands for a Linux distro are uncommon because most people with my demands have either time to learn it or already know it. All I really want it something with fairly extensive and easy to use server features and easy to use configuration GUI (like hardware setup and whatnot). I know it's out there, at least the hardware configuration exists on I believe Mandrake and Fedora, and server features should at least meet up to the features and ease of use of Windows Server 2003.
