Why the PS3 Will be a Flop

Not Welcome: Flaming fanboys and girls. Posts saying it is too long to read are also not welcome.

Welcome: Gamers that want to know the truth about the next generation of video games

All of us know that the Sony Playstation 3 will launch at the end of the year. It looks like a strong system but isn't as poweful as people think. It has been confirmed that the PS3 doesn't have more power than the XBOX 360. Current PC games and video cards can do better than the PS3 in graphical terms. And the PS3 is NOTHING new. Yeah sure, the dumb controller. Nintendo has a much better controller with that same feature, but BETTER. Now when you look at the price, you have a sucky $500 console and the good console for $600. Obviously you would take the $600 one, because the $500 one has nothing good on it. A non-upgradeable 20GB harddrive, no HDMI, and no WiFi. Now take the price into consideration. You've already purchased a $600 console and you're gonna need a game, and another controller. Controllers will retail from $40-60 and games from $60-80. Yes folks, the games could indeed get as high as $80. Next you're gonna want that HDTV setup with your HDMI. So to get a top of the line 1080p HDTV you're gonna be spending around $1500-2500. So now your price could be over $3000. Not to mention the games don't look to good. For the XBOX 360, you can get a premium pack for $400, Oblvion and GRAW for $120, and a good 1080p HDTV for $1500-2500. An extra controller is about $40. So now when you add the 360 premium, extra controller, and 2 games together ITS LESS THAN THE PS3 itself. Now the path I am going to take, and a lot of other forum members are taking is with the Nintendo Wii. An innovative, motion sensing machine. This machine at the most will be $250. So lets assume that is the case. Games will be $50. So we can get 2 games already and the price is already at less than the 360 premium. You don't need an HDTV for the Wii, nor would you need use of it, so lets not go purchase one of those. Next, an extra controller would be $20-30. Add one of those on. Your price is still much less than the 360 package even WITHOUT the HDTV. So let's get a another game for our Wii. Time to check out. Don't forget, tax will be there when you actually purchase any one of these systems. Let's look at the prices:

PS3 Package:

PS3-$600
ONE Game: $60-80
Controller: $40-60(these are blutooth folks, they will be expensive)
1080p HDTV: $1500-2500.
Possible total #1: $2200 if you want a non-big name HDTV and every price here is correct.
Possible and most likely total: $2920
Huge Price total: $3240

Let's get in line to purchase our XBOX 360 now:

XBOX 360 Premium: $400
Controller: $40
2 Games: $120
1080p HDTV: $1500-2500

Total #1: $2560
Cheapest route: $2060
No HDTV: $560

Saving $140 from the cheapest PS3 price if you get an HDTV.

Now lets take a look at our Wii total, because Wii are excited to take it home and check it out:

Wii: $200-250
Controller: $20-30
THREE games: $120-150

Cheapest total: $360
Most probable: $430

If the indeed price WAS $430 you would still be saving $2490 by not getting a PS3 and HDTV. You would be saving $2130 by not getting an XBOX 360 and an HDTV. Also, if you were to get an XBOX 360 with no HDTV, you would still be saving $130. Yes folks, that is if you get more games on the Wii and it is at its most expensive price range. The Wii price could be even less than that. I hope this makes it clear that the next generation belongs to Nintendo.
