Star Fox has a complicated and annoying control scheme with a strong learning curve. It'll be a while, if ever, before you start having fun with the game. The online multiplayer is the only leg-up it has.
NSMB is fun from level 1-1. Simple, nostalgic, wonderful fun. It's just that simple.
If you don't want to take my opinion, just check out IGN and other places reviews. Mario is way ahead of Fox...
