Idk where you c/p'ed that from, but it's missing a few major points. If it's somehwere on the forums, a mod should edit it.
First off, weight has NOTHING to do with snaking. Only the drift stat matters, and yeah, lower is better. Acceleration is the other stat that influences how easy is is to snake, since acceleration is the stat that determines the length of your MTs. With some karts, their acceleration is too low to string MTs together w/o there being a space between boosts. The higher the acceleration, the easier it is to snake, and easier to maintain a boost around corners, due to you not having to be as fast in going from MT to MT.
The other two stats that matter are speed and handling. When you snake, even though you may be drifting a lot, there are often times were you will find yourself messing up if you don't have a high handling. You may think that speed doesn't matter when you have a constant boost, but when you're playing people who also snake, speed matters - a lot.
The two most universal snaking karts are the egg1 and dry bomber, which weren't even mentioned in that. Dry bomber has better handling and acceleration, although worse speed and drift (to clarify, it has a higher drift). The egg1 is just barely worse on acc and handling, so if you can string your MTs together fast enough (really it's not that much harder) and don't mind the slightly worse handling, you'll generally be in a better posistion. Which one you use has to do with what playstyle you have. If you wanna just keep as large of a lead as you can egg1 is for you (or perhaps even a faster kart if you can handle the disadvantages they offer). If you prefer to stay just behind and get items, DB might be better. They both have the same item rate, so that's irrelevent; if you want a kart with a higher item rate, the YS or DB standards are both good (or even one of Luigi's or ROB's karts). DB has slightly higher weight (all this affects is how easily you get pushed around, so that's a good thing, OKAY?), but it rarely matters since if you're facing a lighter kart like egg1, they'll be faster than you and beat you out anyway.
