Compared to System Shock 2, it barely has any RPG elements. SS2 was really heavy on that, but fortunately that didn't harm the gameplay much aside from weapons breaking after so much use and requiring single-use maintenance tools. BioShock maintains much of the SS2 feel without the potentially frustrating RPG elements. I like how they essentially copied the hypo sound directly from SS2 into BioShock as well as a number of other gameplay aspects, it makes BioShock feel more like a sequel (even though it really isn't) which is something I've been wanting for a long time.
