Of a Giant Latin Bug, Christmas and the Wii - The New CastleVania?
Uhh, okay, first I'm gonna warn you. This post is gonna be long so it's not for the faint hearted. If you value your eyeballs and sanity, I suggest hitting back.
A few days ago I was on the GameFAQs PoR message board and there was a poster there by the name of kage555. He claimed to be on the localization team that's translating the next DS CastleVania to English and needed help with the name of a giant bug (I truly forgot the name) that was in the Japanese pronunciation of a Latin word. The last I remember of it, the most helpful name given was Azure Beetle.
I went back to the board just now and the topic is gone but it's already sparked countless threads on several other boards. kage555 apparently posted a screenshot of the upcoming title which can be seen here and needless to say, that opened a whole can of worms.
I only found out about this a while ago so I'm still hunting around for info being the crazed CastleVania freak I am. As it stands, most of the fan base seems torn about this but the majority believe its fake, myself included.
Right now, if the screenshot was real, we could tell several things about the new game. Either the blonde guy or the girl is named Syanoa (Pardon my I-can't-read-Japanese-ness >.<), the game will have Wii and Wi-Fi connectivity, there is someone or something called Dominas and the date could have a part to play in completing the game. But, sadly, the screenshots leave more to be frowned upon than celebrated.
Reasons for it being fake (Opinions from others and me!)
- IGA mentioned that the art would not be anime styled but the screenshots show the girl in a style that is very anime and not the least bit Ayami Kojima.
- Someone somewhere mentioned that the girl's boob size was an indication of bad Photoshopping.
- The bottom right hand shot of the background looks to me like it was ripped out of one of the GBA CVs.
- If someone were to really be on the localization team, the least you would think they would have access to would be the production notes. I'm sure "kage555" could've just emailed someone on the Japanese side or a Latin translater as a last resort instead of posting on GameFAQS.
There are probably more takes on this but now I'd like to hear what you guys think!
...If I haven't completely scared you away by now that is.
