You're PC technician fails, don't believe anything he says. Who is he, a Geek Squad employee? DH is right.
I have however heard a long time ago that hibernating can cause problems, but I have no evidence and I bet if there was a problem it would've been fixed by now. I heard a similar thing about System Restore which is more believable, but I still lack any evidence.
