I have however heard a long time ago that hibernating can cause problems, but I have no evidence and I bet if there was a problem it would've been fixed by now. I heard a similar thing about System Restore which is more believable, but I still lack any evidence.

Oh I forgot it saves what was in RAM to the hard drive before it powers off as well.
As of problems with it, can't say I have had any.
But i don't like System Restore i doesn't work for me that well, so I don't use it.
