bignds is on a distinguished road
well i got my DS last Saturday (1 day after the UK launch) with Super Mario 64 DS and Wario Ware touched, and id just like to share my first impressions with you on the DS.
When i opened the box on the car ride home, first i saw the Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt box, then all wraped in plastic and pink foam was the DS itself.
i didnt hesitate on turing it on, so i took the stylus out and entered the time, date and my birthday, the DS was so user friendly, and the pictures of this thing doesnt do this justice. It is not as big as people had said it was and when closed its about the same length as the SP. The screen is nice and bright and sound is superb- before the DS i never had a second thought of turing of the sound when playing my SP but now its all changed thanks to this little thing. Once i arrived home i put it on to charge and popped in the small SM64DS game card into the system. I was amazed by the sound, but not as half as amazed i was when i started playing the game.
Peoples reviews who i read said the graphics were good but at time a bit blocky, but what i saw was a smooth and colourful world.
The next game i played was Wario Ware Touched, something i played a previous month before on a demo stand. i was impressed with it then and it was somewhat a main factor for me getting a DS. I later played Metroiid Prime First Hunt, and was stunned by how close it was to its Gamecube counterpart.
At the end of that day i just thought about how good of a purchase the DS was, and although i wil still be buying the PSP i think this is the better console for money and fun.

Summary:

On the DS:
Good points
*Great value for money
* What more to say but unbeatable fun
Flaws
* Touch screen does get annoying to have to keep on cleaning.
*Games are being set back to much

On Metroid Prime hunters: First Hunt
Good points
* A fun fast shooter, and brilliant control with the morph ball
* Stays true to the original Metroid Prime from the gamecube
Flaws
* Sometimes it does get a bit tricky due not having an anologue stick

On SM64DS:
Good points
*An amazingly well put together game. its one of the biggest platformers and will keep even the most hardcore gamers busy for weeks and when you do finish it 100% you'll have the brilliant mini games and multiplayer to make sure this will never spend to long out of your DS.
* Sound is superb and when you turn it on surround you'll certainly notice it. Its a graphical breakthrough for its genre in a handheld.
Flaws
* Even though its a good thing to have a challenge sometimes it can get too hard

On Wario Ware Touched:
Good Points
* Very original, addictive and fun
*Showcases the DS' abbilties perfectly
Flaws
* Nothing bad to say about this game really

Welcome to the club!

Now if you're a little glum about pushed back release dates, imagine how long us Yanks and UK importers had to wait just to get warioware!

x999x you are so true!

Nice little review there, but i'm going to move it to member reviews section as it IS a review but it's ok because it's so cool! To the point and i do agree with all your points.

Well done.

As a PC game Player first and foremost i love using the touchscreen as a mouse. If you have been using controllers for first person shooters then it could be a bit tricky to get used to but for me its just like a mouse aand the WASD keys. Protable PC Gaming. I love it. Its also not a bad looker. You wouldn't ashamed or embarassed to take it out in public. Not as good looking as the PSP But alot more practical. My only gripe with it is the amount of times you have to restart the system when changing settings. Maybe its a Ninty joke about the amount of times a PC has to restart (oh i could tell you stories). Great reviews. My only complaint about warioware touched is its too short, but a great game and very replayable.
Thats my 2 cents anyway.

RE: Fanboy Busters

The way i see it.
The DS is a great little system i bought it due to the gba playback im a sucker for castlevania and quite excited about castlevania DS. Media playback on this platform is quite a stupid idea in my opinion well at least video playback. If i want to watch a movie i will fire up the pc or dvd player for this reason i feel its a unnessasary waste of money. (hell if you want media playback your not going to buy a DS anyway)

The software at current isnt the best but hold out guys and gals hopefully it will be worth it im not putting my allances with any one company afterall im quite a serious gamer with several consoles.

My Wish from nintendo would be to bring back goldeneye64 and Perfect Dark to the ds i would buy them instantlly sure there 8years old they are classic games None of this rouge agent stuff..
To bad microsoft own rareware :(

RE: 1000 Club

I'd rather have Nintendo be its own company. Let's stay on topic, shall we?
