Meteos - by Shadow

I always thought puzzle games were the best game for portable consoles. Whenever I've taken my Game Boy or Game Boy Color with me I always had the Tetris for Game Boy with me this was later replaced with Tetris DX for one reason alone, you could save your high score. This was all fine until my best friend managed to beat my high score with 400 points last year and I haven't been able to beat that since. But hey, getting a bit side tracked here. Meteos is as meantioned a puzzle game but the concept is developed so it has a perfect functionallity with the DS consule. In other words you can and should control this game with your stylus. What I think is diffrent about this game from others is that the soundtrack to this game combined with the colors are building up a cool factor I haven't really felt likt WipeOut for the Playstation.

Unlike other puzzle games this game actually has a story. As the proluge to the game says:

"It was a dark time.. the excistance of all planets was threatned by one: the evil planet Meteo"

This planets send out parts against you called meteos. And you have to shoot them back into space by getting three of the same kind next to each other. This can be done in both diagonally and horizontally. Alltough they have diffrent effects based on how they are placed. After lauch you can also lanch more after to built up in combos. To make it a little more intersting different items apear randomly to help you destory stracks of metos in times of need.

But here comes the real twist: by holding down either the L or the R button the game speeds up to an extreme speed. At first it's impossible to play like this so you don't really use it, then after a while you use it to fill up the screen and after a bit longer you sit playing most of the time with the speed up extremely high, yawning at the normal speed. This is when Metos has completely got it's grip of you.

Positives & Negatives sides

+ Control makes good use of DS
+ Soundtrack and style builds up a good total attitude

- Somtimes you can miss the metos you want to move because of the small size of them and the stylus.

Grade system

10: Perfect
9: Excellent
8: Great
7: Good
6: Good if you're into this type of game
5: Average game can be good if you like the genere
4: The negative sides overwights the positive
3: They tried but failed
2: They didn't even try
1: Is this a game?

Note: The intention of my reviews are never to cover every area of the game. It is for you that reads it to get an idea if what this is, if you'd like it and why.

Remember dude, this guy is from Sweden, and not writing in his native language. I learn French at school and couldn't even begin a review!

Nice work dude, Meteos is a game I love, and I would even go higher than a 9 - 9.5, perhaps?

The word is not consules? wow I always used that hehe. Which is the proper word to use? Gaming systems? Portable video games? oh well.

And I'm not interested in using half points in my reviews. And yes they would probably be more complex if I wrote in Swedish but I think this simple way actually is better used it reviews anyway :)
