RE: E3 Game Announcements

This is my review of the Urbz having completed it.

To start off with, I got my shiney VIP Pak DS through the post and was struggling to decide which launch games to buy.

2 weeks past on and I (after a LOT of decision making and wondering if it was such a good idea) bought the Urbz.

Immediately I noticed that this was a simple GBA port, but with the touch screen menu, which by the way, is absolute genius!. However, I was taken in by it's charms and played on..

You start by creating your Urb. There are probably about 20 customizations you can make to your Urb or Urba (Male or female) and then you get started.

... You may think that the first part of the game is a little on the monotonous and boring side, which it is. But, once you play it for an hour or so GREAT things start happening.

You get arrested, have to find a place to stay and start making friends. Immediately this opens new objectives and goals, which subsequently you need to build your stats and take up multiple jobs around the very small Sim Quarter region of Urbania.

If you can overlook the fact that maybe this was rushed, and therefore not such a visually stunning affair, you will be sucked into your new world and play it for hours at a time just trying to buy that new Plasma TV, or unlock the next challenge.

This is not a game for the people who want to dip in for 5 mins, as 5 mins usually becomes 2 or 3 hours, but it is rewarding when you get your maxed out Penthouse appartment with all the latest mod cons.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this as a solid purchase and something to break in your DS for the next few weeks until the utterly gobsmacking Chaos Theory and Another Code come out.

RATING: 8/10
GRAPHICS 7/10 (SOLID AND WELL RENDERED, BUT GBA NONE THE LESS)
SOUND 8/10 (PLENTY OF GROOVY TRACKS AND EFFECTS)
PLAYABILITY 9/10 (THIS IS A WELL STRUCTURED AND PLAYABLE GAME)
LEARNING CURVE 8/10 (BUILDS YOU UP GRADUALLY AND THEN CHUCKS YOU IN AT THE DEEP END)
LASTABILITY 10/10 (LASTS ABSOLUTELY AGES-ONLY JUST COMPLETED IT NEARLY 2 MONTHS IN)
