i agree, the rules should be more strict. However, theyre not doing anything about it. We cant just dwell on what we want to happen just like the quote from the incredibles "We live in the now, darling". So, because of professional negligence, we have to deal with it. If we want to win, the obvius choice would be to learn l canceling and such. Of course, you can practice the hard way but since l cancel isnt banned, most if not all choose to use it. I cant do anything but change myself.

All we can do is hope that rules will be stricter for SSBR tournaments. Until then, we just have to deal with l cancel and wavedashing teeming on the tourneys.

Argh... But you just agreed it's cheating! That doesn't so much matter though, because regardless of what they say, it is. You are a cheater, you just admitted it, and so is every "winner" at those tournaments according to you. And you call that ok?

i dont LIKE cheating, thats why i dont use them on my friends or for fun. Even if they are better than me, i wouldnt use them. Tournaments, everthings riding on it, your cash, smash status, social status, everything. If you knew how important tourneys are to some people, we all know we will get nowhere without l cancel. So, you say we cheat, we say its the only way. You dont compete so u probably wouldnt know. Sure, the patches and stuff for SC make it easy to play. But you cant do that to a disc, youd need a burner or a hard drive which is way too expensive. They could outlaw it, but they dont. I actually wish they did, it would make it that much simpler. But, they dont. So i cant see any other way to win. Bill Gates didnt get where he is by playing it nice, he probably cheated out companies and such.

Yes, bill gates was generally a lying son of a.... well, that's why so many people hate him. If you don't like it, then quit. It's not like you can make any reasonable money even if you do win. Currently there's only one tournament that can support a gamer year round, and that honor belongs to the counter strike series. So, why do you cheat? If you don't like it, just quit. You'll lose anyway, probably to someone that did use it.

Well, i play because its fun. Im not in it for the money. Meeting all those people, being exposed to the tactics, the adrenalin rush when you win a cloase game, i do it for that. CS can go online so its easy to play. SSBM does not have that convenience. Therefore, a good tourney is rare and attractive. Im not a real fan of the l cancel crap (now dont go sayin im changing my position again!) but i know that you cant get anywhere competatively without it. That is the sole reason for me using them. I can still have fun but without l cancel, wavedash, your reps gonna get shot. You go to a tourney without them, they call u a noob and ineperienced. Ive seen some cases first hand. I dont know but my social life is important to me and i want to play without people calling me a n00b. Yes, i do lose even with my "cheats" but whats more important was that when i used it, we were on an equal playing field. No excuses. Ill keep up with SSMB until SSBR comes out, hopefully with no big faults.

You're saying that cheating is OK if both parties involved use it? Well, that's just idiotic. It's like saying in a Starcraft ladder match (since SC analogies are so popular, but it can be applied to any game really) if both people are stacking photon cannons, it's fair. It doesn't make sense, it's completely immoral, and it wouldn't be allowed... anywhere. Besides, by that logic if you ran into someon without the cheats, you would have to refrain, which you certainly wouldn't, or alternately you would be too dependent on the cheat and consequently lose by lack of skill.

how is reducing lag cheating? it's just like when you play online, if you play online do you want to be laggy and slow? or do you want to be fast and not laggy?

for wavedashing.. IT'S ****IGN MENTIONED IN THE DEBUG MENU OF THE GAME DAMMIT!

now to mention Wavedashing occurs in other games.. soi suppose everyone who uses it in other games cheat also?

L-cnacelign existed in SSB but back then it was Z-cancel.

oh, and by your logic i would assume you would think short hopping and fast falling are cheating also?

you know what marth...you're just ignorant. wavedashing and l-canceling has been used since ssbm came out...and It is known to most high level smashers. And besides that wasn't even the point of my post.

Noone ever said you had to use it, but you will get owned by people who do. You can complain all you want, its even going to be in Nintendo Power. Cheating is something that almost garuntees you a win. You don't need to master a cheat, you don't need to train with a cheat, you don't need to spend Months prefecting a cheat!

Wavedashing doesn't Garuntee wins. Saying Wavedashing is cheap is like saying the C-stick is cheap. Come on now, why do you even care? It sounds like none of your friends use them anyway.

L-cancelling: Just because its not in the How-to play, doesn't mean a thing. Teching wasn't, Airdodging wasn't. L-cancelling WAS put in there on Purpose. THe Testers DID leave Wavedashing in on purpose, and there certainly was enough time for them to get rid of it. But they didn't, why? It wouldn't Destroy the game.

In PAL, they fixed some of the other things, but left Wavedashing. They found how deep it made there game.
