WAVEDASHING

Wavedashing is so special its gets a section all to itself. Funny thing is, all I’m going to do is direct you to another site that has an in-depth essay on Wavedashing and maybe post a list or two.

http://www.freewebs.com/tobiasxk/wavedashing.html

Every character’s wavedash goes a different length. It all depends on how much traction they have. The characters are in order from longest to shortest wavedash here:

Luigi

Ice Climbers

Mewtwo

Marth

Yoshi

Roy

Dr. Mario / Mario / Mr. Game & Watch

Samus

Ness

Fox

Bowser

Falco

Young Link

Ganondorf

DK

Pikachu / Sheik

Captain Falcon / Kirby

Pichu

Jigglypuff
Link

Peach / Zelda

Ok, let me just set out my opinions here.

Wavedashing, though theorhetically an exceptable move in tournament play, was a mistake by the developers. In the latest issue of NP, it is listed under "Smash Anomolies", and says it "skips the jump animation", conjuring thoughts of glitches.

L canceling is completely unfair, an exploit, and should not be used. It alters lag. That alone should disqualify it, and in most games it would. Why would smash bros be an exception? It shouldn't.

And though this doesn't really belong... C stick is cheap. Why do you think it's not allowed in single player? It was likely just added as an afterthought for unskilled players, which in my opinion was a bad move.

*sigh*

this is getting us no where

"was a mistake by the developers."

read the damned topic moron, i've posted more thatn one that it was NOT A MISTAKE!
second for the animation being skipped there's more stuff liek that in the game:
Choose Samus, jump and RIGHT before you land try and shoot a missle. if you do it right you'll heard the sound of a missle being fired... but no missle comes out :O you can do the Same wiht Fox/Falco's nuetral b.

hm.. as far C-sticking.. how is it bad? i mean, anyone can use it, all it does is allow easier smashes ... and being able to fully use your momentum while doing airel attacks. *ie: full drift right while doing a back ariel to the left*

L-cancling: anything to reduce lag is supposed to be good nay?

look at the previous posts about the online game *may be confusing some posts with posts on the GameTalk forum*

but meh... i guess no matter what reasons you see you won't listen to them and just keep sayign the same thing ..

"It is also not a glitch, or in any way cheap. It is merely an aspect of the physics in the game, and is referred to in the actual game as the "super dash technique""

this line can be found in the above link about Wavedashing, since i doubt you'll bother looking at it i posted it here.

*that and everything else in the article is ©T.XK and The Mighty Infested Falcon of X (XiF). Steal and Die a most painful demise.*

to wavedash, it doens't matter HOW you jump since you're going to be skipping the whole jump animation anyways.

but If you're gonna Use someone like Luigi.. wavedashing back aint' gonna help you set up projectiles, now foward wavedash to down smash would be good.. mabye..

i'm not a big Luigi user.

Also, no character actually REQUIRE wavedashing, closest two woul dbe Samus and Yoshi though *but Yoshi's wavedash isn't all that good*

For yoshi, it's ok to Roll SOMETIMES. but dont' do it often.

and uh.. yeah. >_> *is mainly a Ganon/Marth/Doctor Mario user*

i posted a reply to this much earlier but it wasnt posted for some reason so ill post again. Fox with his avaerage sized wd has an ok start to wd back and blaster spam to rck up points. Im just saying that since im mostly a fox player, wd forward to a d smash insnt gonna be too effective especially with the horrible lag time in that. Its just to say with me, only forward wd are seen and i see most of that in tourney matches as well. I think back has somewhat of a more use.

Well, in general yea, but i think its somewhat more inportant to learn to wd back first...

To wd right before a shorthop is fastest but also the hardest...

Thats why i said in other posts that wd wasnt so neccasary in tourneys as l cancel.

In all, it really depends on your plsying style and character, f wd isnt for me as much as some other characters.

Personally, i dont use infinites too much, in matches for fun, well thats just cheap against my less experienced friends... In tourneys, they just get angry at me and get back at me in the next stock or match.

if c stick was just an option for weak players, why is there no option to turn it off or on? i use c stick sometimes for fox's up smash cuz that comes out faster than my fingers could i think...

to wd easily, go to training and set it on the slowest mode possible. Try it then. If it still doesnt work, jump, as you come down, wd as youre nearing the ground.

once again, you use what you have to your advantage. N00bs tend to use it much to often. When im in for a quick hit and run, c stick is much more practical. It can dish out an up smash much faster than i can after a crouch canceled fox trot.

What do you know about it being shameful for pros to use it? The top fox player in IL told me himself he uses it occasionally.
