A debate is naturally supposed to be composed of people who stick to their core opinions, otherwise the debate would just fall apart in a wave of confusion or with the winner of the debate being whoever stuck to their opinion. Despite what you might learn from many debates, you're not supposed to lie or cover up your true opinion. |

Everyone knows lying is wrong in one way or another whether they admit it or not.
Sure, if you actually make them think about it, they would know that they're thinking about it and no doubt they would know why they're thinking about it. Heck, you're probably making me think about what I'm saying, and the more I think about it the more I support it. It goes without saying that I'm also thinking about what you're saying and I still don't see much of anything morally correct about the way you handle debates. |

Who's lying?
If you argue the case of something it doesn't necessarily mean you believe it. It's not like if I was arguing I'd be like "WELL I SUPPORT HILARY!!" when I really don't. I'd say well Hilary's stance is _____ and how is that not better than Obama's?

Let's take another look back at page one where this all started...

The example you just gave doesn't clearly show if you support Hillary or not, it just shows that you're unbiased enough (assuming you've said anything positive about other candidates) to realize that Hillary isn't all bad. Technically, you didn't even make a flat-out statement, but it was rather a question, which pretty much avoids the possibility of the sentence being a lie. Then again, there is the statement of what Hillary's stance is and you could lie about it, but that's beside the point. Attempting to give people a false perspective of your true opinion (by means other than remaining silent) is however a form of lying, and that's what I'm trying to make a point about. |

From the way you stated what I have quoted above, it makes me believe that if someone wanted to support Obama then you would try to discourage other people from supporting him by pointing out Hilary's stance and how she could be a better candidate. I don't understand why you [or anybody else] would do that after saying you dislike her in previous posts. If you support Obama then would it not be wise to try and argue his case in order to get the support of everybody else? Because unless you live in a world of juxtaposition, then you have made a lot of invalid points. Either way, we're all entitled to our own opinions, and I think that this discussion has gone on far too long and we should drop it from here on. If anybody would like to discuss it further then I suggest that it be done via PM to avoid confliction with anybody else, and also to stop any further disruption on the forum. |

Wow. That's completely wrong, Jioey. That's not debate, that's straight fanboyism, if you can't ever admit that your opponent is right on any point, regardless of facts. No single political candidate has everything, you just pick the one that agrees with you on the most important issues.
