I hate snakers, and I believe anything so incredibly unrealistic to the series and unintended by the developers and an unfair advantage to average racers to be wrong, snaking completely fits that category. I don't snake unless I'm up against a snaker, I have the right to defend my score against people using exploits by doing the same thing, although I'm really bad at it in most tracks. I usually don't disconnect to avoid a cheap loss, and I never disconnect from races with more than 1 other person, but if I'm up against a snaker and everyone else disconnects and I don't stand a chance, I'll be disconnecting because they don't deserve the win. Snaking hasn't ruined my online experience, I only run into them about 1 every 10, but just imagine what Nintendo thinks about it and consider it the law of the game, chances are they hate it because it drives away a large percentage of new players, and if they knew that the powerslide boost would be exploited like that they probably would've left it out.
BTW, as said before, rival search is basically worldwide, but it seems worse (almost like it avoids people of equal skill). I've actually seen someone with about a 420/0 score in a rival search as well as several other insane scores, it goes without saying that I disconnected before that race started.
