That's because the game was SPECIFICALLY designed to be played violently, and didn't do much in the way for having a non-violent way of defeating your opponent. You can't slap them to death, but you CAN rip their spine out.

EDIT: Ohhhh... I think I see your point now. Then again, you DO have a choice in which games you want to play. :P

You have choices in that game.
What level did you set the blood at?
After you win the fight do you use a simple punch to knock the enemy down? or do you do this?

MK and GTA are violent... it's the level of violence that depends on you.
Nintendo tryed to prove this, with a more mild version of MK on the SNES, it's fun to fight, even without all the blood...

Brooks went on to explain how difficult it was to priate games. His lines were cut because they undermined Donny and MSNBC's agenda.
