they'll probably try to come up with something crazier to compete with it or something
cause seriously they would get nailed if they tried to copy this idea, cause if a new xbox controller looks anything close to a remote, people are gonna say that they just copied nintendo. |

RE: Weekly Debate 5#- Will others follow suit?
its definately a possibality. sony did copy the N64 controller alot and i see no reason why they wont copy this. however they may stick with a more conventional controller design and add motion sensors. Unfortunately itll be diffucult to enforce patents since Sony may find another way of doing the same thing. I hope they dont but definately a possability.

They'll wait to see how successful it is first, since there's loads of people out there that think it's just a gimmick for the kids (TWiT 25 comes to mind). There's no doubt it's going through their minds though, especially Sony since they've been keeping the battle going since they broke up with Nintendo and created the PS1 (Nintendo had Sony helping them make the N64 with CD media, but Sony split and did it themselves probably taking a deal of Nintendo's ideas with them, at least that's what I've been told).

well whats funny here is that its nintendo stealing ideas for once, but instead of making crap knock offs they improved on it.
the rev contoller is just a reverse eye toy to become more a hand toy i think nintendo will havethis idea copyrighted to the bone, well hopefully

RE: Weekly Debate 5#- Will others follow suit?
a) The CD add on was for Super Nintendo (naturally) but the rest of story is accurate
(see here: http://www.consoledatabase.com/consoleinfo/snescdrom/) b) This type of controller HAS been done before (see this article: http://touchds.com/index.php?name=PN...3e1cd34a4b6bb4 ) see also http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3132849 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3132850 So copyrighting will be tough to do. Disclaimer::: before some twit jumps down my throat and says I'm wrong, a) actaully bother to follow the links b) I'm not saying that Nintendo's controller isn't light years ahead of the ones listed, just that it isn't the first of it's kind.
