As we get closer to E3, was it ever really a suprise regarding Ninty's DS-Online announcement to put a damper on the PSP's launch?

By doing what they (Nintendo) do best, they're giving you access to what you already own and calling it "New." They've done this since Pokemon to Nintendogs, and now the DS. Pokemon shared all the same character data, just disabled one half by default and called the X pack and the other the Y pack. Nintendogs does the same thing with offering different flavors of dog paks, yet they all contain the same dog data which becomes unlocked as a "new dog" when it's traded to you from another pak. Here we go with the Wireless Radio in the DS, they're putting a standard IP-Stack to bridge the gap between a normal wifi-hotspot and your DS and calling it a "New Feature/Service."

All I can say is kudos, they're not the king for nothin'...

You can't trade dogs... If you're going to get one, just get the one that you preffer. I don't see a problem with that. Anyway, of course there is no cost for the Wi-Fi service, but if you want to set up a wireless router in your house to get a hotspot, routers aren't incredibly expensive.

Oh, and also this isn't really news. We already knew (because nintendo told us) that online was coming, it's just that now we know that games are coming, so it's exciting.

According to Nintendo, the US version, officially called Nintendogs, is currently in the localization phase, but it won't be a direct conversion of the Japanese version set to hit shelves in that territory next month. The US version will actually have more than the Japanese edition: more puppy breeds and more toys to play and trade with. The US version may omit a couple of puppy breeds that are popular in Japan but not in the States, but even with the exclusions the stateside edition will contain a larger line-up of dogs when it's completed later this year.

Yep, nintendo is good like that. Waiting is almost always rewarded in some small way or a larger one. Such as Deception, which did take a while to come to GC, but for that they added two new characters.

The transcript is on IGN. It's being called "The Heart of the Gamer" speech, but on IGN they are just calling it Iwata's keynote speech/adress.

i didn't know that iwata said that the Revolution WILL be backwards-compatable with gamecube games. i thought that was just speculation...
