Anyone tried the R4DS?

I'm tempted to try this one:

R4 (R4DS) - Revolution for DS NDS NDSL Wholesales Index Page

along with a 2GB Micro SD Card.

Any better slot 1 cards?

I bought it about 2 months ago. Including a 1GB microSD (from eBay) it cost me about $50, which is the best deal I could find and a killer deal for something that does so much. 1GB microSD costs about $10 and 2GB about $30, so if you want to save some cash but still want the 2GB of storage, try for 1GBx2. I bought the Chinese version from Sky2K.com since it was cheaper (and because they didn't say it was Chinese).

I can't really compare it with the other slot 1 stuff, but it works great and you get more than you pay for. It includes a microSD USB adapter and a plastic/rubber case for the R4DS.
I use it mostly for podcasts and the occasional movie, and of course homebrew. About 8 hours of high quality DPG video can fit on 1GB, and I have about 100 homebrew games and apps taking something like 150MB.
I reviewed some of my favorite homebrew in my podcast, Gamers' Consideration Initiative episode 1, that you might want to check out.

I think you already figured out that I highly recommend R4DS.

I need to lurk more. The noob that I am, I created a topic asking about this exact product. I thought it looked good. One thing, does it REALLY play movies? I mean, it must look nasty on the DS screen, no? I really just wanted it for games anyways but still want to know.

Yes, it plays video, you just need to convert it to DPG or DSM format, which are DS homebrew specific formats. A 1GB microSD will fit somewhere around 6-10 hours of high quality video.
The worst problem with the video quality is the limited colors, it's obviously 16 bit, but most of the time you probably wouldn't notice it. The frame rate and sound quality are superb, and the compression has no noticeable reduction in quality when using the optimum settings for conversion. I've watched somewhere around a hundred video podcasts and a number of full-length movies on my DS and never had a problem with the quality, although the low resolution could sometimes be a problem when there's small text.
