Okay, so the day after Christmas, I'm leaving on a 1000 mile road trip, two days, of 8 hour driving. So, I know the DS's battery life can last that long, but just barely. So I was wondering if you guys know if the DS has a car charger adapter yet, so I can play my DS and not have to worry about the battery, or if I take out the battery pack thing, would I be able to put in real AA batteries?

(I haven't gotten mine yet, thats why I've got the questions, I'm pretty sure Santa will have it under the tree for me, though).

The DS runs on only a rechargeable lithium lon battery. I hope that answers 1/2 of your question

RE: Batteries & Long Trip

No you cannot use AA batteries , but I know somewhere you can buy a battery add on that adds around 4 hours battery to the DS once plugged in.

Have a browse round some major gaming store sites until you find such an item.

honestly, i have played my ds for 10 hours straight and the batteries didnt die til the next day. Unless you are playing multiplayer you shouldnt ever be in battery trouble. Just charge it every night you make a stop. These trips are what the ds is built for.

OK, I have found these products for you.

1. A winding charger
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...s_id=3541&
You have to turn the handle for around 10 minutes to get 30 minutes of gameplay... keeps you fit though

2. Emergency power supply (proberbly more your thing)
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...s_id=3540&
Plugs into charger port and provides 7-9 hours of battery life. It uses 4 batteries (like you wanted) to charge up the DS battery which takes 90 minutes and then your good to go!

3. Or the car adaptor
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...s_id=2867&
Another one you mentioned!

Hope those helped!

alright! thanks very very much.

i'll have to check a store like target or something to see if they have either the second or third thing, and if not, i could always buy a second battery.

This shouldn't be a problem. Newer devices with onboard memory have a feature which let it retain it's data for up to 15 seconds after the battery has been removed.

Oh, Lik sang rules! Do you have to buy a big "starter" kit to get the car adapter?
