Different Sounds

I picked up my first DS the day it came out..love it. convinced some friends to pick some up too, but after 10 days disaster struck, it dies, no real reason , just never turned back on.

Called the nice folks at nintendo and they 2nd day air shipped me a new unit. but as soon as i turned my new unit on i notice something. The ding-a-ling at the safety screen was different. I ran to grab my friends ds and listen and my unit has the same noise, just an octive higher than my old one and my friends current one.

The serial numbers off my original and my friends were NU400.... and my new one from nintendo is N100.....

Gotta chalk it up to different firmware version, but has anybody else noticed differences like that?

I just ordered up my "new" DS, because my original one has a dead pixel. Big N is sending a DS and a padded envelope to swap the models. It should be here next week, and we'll see if it is the new kind of which you speak.

me and my friends have the same start up noises, so i can't relate. that is pretty weird though...

yeah, they sent it to me in a little box, but maybe youll get one of the (old/new) models. Let me know. im interested to see if i should brag that i got like a "first edition" model :lol:

I'm hoping the speakers work better. Does anyone else get distortion when the volume is very low?

nope mine is perfect. Just waiting at the bottom of my christmas tree all charged up... Thats pretty wierd story...

I like that sound. Its cool. And in surround.
