DS is like Dreamcast? please no

the dreamcast was an incredible system, the only reason why it died was because of piracy. If you knew anything about the dc-scene or homebrew you would know how bad sega got it less than 6 months after the system was released, especially when no boot discs were needed. Would you rather spend pennies on a cd-r or buy the game for 30-50 bucks?

Piracy, still, at that time was limited to people with the means to do it, just as in the case of the PSX, which was the easiest to pirate, yet the most successful system in it's class. Surely the PSX should have died if piracy is all it takes to sink a console...

Too right, not only did i get free promo games for the PSX i was constantly just given copies of games from friends ( I loling hate piracy but at the time it was not common and no money was exchanged) I doubt i bought more than a couple of games and i had a huge library.

I really dont know why the dreamcast flopped, i bought one later in its life and i was pretty pleased with it. I didnt play it anywhere near the ammount of my gameboy, PS1 or N64 though. I have no idea why. My best guess would be that it was too much for its generation. We were still in the age of pickup and play, the dreamcast was offering all sorts of extra stuff and it did seem a little daunting.

Sega as a whole haven't been doing very well in my opinion after the dreamcast but lets all hear "We love SONIC!"

The DS cant be like the DreamCast because Sony is losing the 'handheld war' (there is a thread discussing that)

The only reason why the DC died was because of the Ps2
With the tight graphics and DVD content the Ps2 killed the dreamcast and that made the SEGA president announce that they would stop making Consoles and just make games.

No body wanted a Dreamcast anymore because the Ps2 could play DVDs and Cds (the Dreamcast can only play CDs)
Nobody new that a DVD could have such crisp quality from a tape(or cassete) and then later became a house hold media centre.
And because the Ipod Video(and other mp4s) are out with 30-100gigs of memory in them(unlike the psp which starts you off with a 256mb-memory card and cost 100+ to get more memory)
The sales for a PSP will start to drop.

The video has already been out for more than a year (assumption), and the PSP sales are already dropping. Obviously, IpodVid wasn't the only aspect that lowered the sales but of course, the DS.

And everyone wants a better deal, but Sony has trouble grasping that idea.
