Easy DS games for little kids

Hello...I have a 6 1/2 year old son and an almost 3 year old son. Each will be getting their own DS for Christmas. I have decided to get them each their own nintendogs (not that the almost 3 will be able to play it) because all of my 6 year old's friends have that game, plus both my boys love animals!!!

Currently they have no gaming system other than the computer and on that they both play Lego Stars Wars (1 and 2), well they had a nintendo 64 and love the mario characters. The almost 3 year old can play it, he loves changing between characters and opening doors and shooting...not that he always defeats stuff, but I think they have the ability to have unlimited lives on the game. He knows more about the game than I do.

Basically finding a game for my 6 1/2 year old is easy, but I need to know of a game easy enough for an almost 3 year old to play? one where he can just roam around and change characters. I know that GBA games work in the DS too, so those are options...

Also I saw the bionicle game for DS...any thoughts on that game?

I have neuphues that age, and have had the same problem.
Croyal makes a "plug-n-play" colouring game perfect for kids as young as three (of course it is for the TV) (and as cheap as $10).

As far as DS games for three year olds, hopefully someone else can better help.
Probably there are some GBA games that might be best for a young child (sponge Bob, Dora the explorer) and these WILL work with the DS.

ALSO, you can GBA videos... although not techincally games, this should atleast help the three year old not feel left out.

I have heard that some of the GBA games are easier or at least the controls are.

Also thanx for the info on the GBA videos, I had never heard of those!

If anyone knows of a game that you can have unlimited life or get it easy (my older son can get it and then let my little one play) and that you can walk around and open doors let me know...

I was also wondering if there are Zelda games for the DS or GBA?

There is a Zelda game expected to be released in the New Year for the DS, but on the GBA theres a few, most notably The Minish Cap.
Animal Crossing is something they can enjoy. As is Wario Ware: Touched!, which could be your best option, its a bunch of 5 second minigames, quick fire, its wacky, but sure to entertain.

I will have to keep my eye open for the Zelda after the New Year!

I will look into Minish Cap, Animal Crossing and Wario Ware. I have seen animal crossing and thought that looked fun, but I have not seen the other two.

Thanx again for the info!

Legend of Zelda Minish Cap is on the GBA
There is a Wario Ware on GBA but you want Wario Ware Touched which is on the DS.

I suggest you try this website, it's called GamerDad, and it specializes in reviews for parents who wish to see what games would be good for their kids, and what games you might also enjoy.

http://gamerdad.com/

As for the Bionicle game, IGN just did a fairly explanatory review. The gist of it is that it's surprisingly good for such a franchise. Normally games based on non-game franchises don't turn out very well. Your son, assuming he likes Bionicles, would probably like it quite a lot. However, it is a First Person Shooter, so it might be a bit complex for a 6-year-old to hop into, but if he's played a lot of video games, then he'll probably do fine. After all, it is a children's game essentially.

Also, I might suggest this new game. Bomberman Land Touch.

I know my 6 year old loves the Bionicles, but I am not sure how he will do playing a first person shooter game since he has not done that yet.

Yoshi's Island looks fun and it has the classic Mario/nintendo characters that my kids love! Bomberman Land looks fun too!

I really like the gamerdad website!

I am getting so much helpful info!!! I am going out shopping tomorrow for more research on these games. I might be able to come home with a few!
