firmware updates on the DS?

i had a PSP ; sold it a while ago & am soon going to get a DS lite. i had a question, like the PSP, does the DS get firmware updates via Wifi or PC connect? if not ; is there another way Nintendo evolves the DS ( i.e. adding PDA functionality, etc ) ? OR is there no real evolving aspect of the DS?

There's been no official firmware updates so far, but I still have some hope left after hoping for it since launch in 2004. There are homebrew firmware updates that require special hardware.

The DS isn't a multimedia device, so unless they update Pictochat to go online, or some other feature, there's not much reason to update it.

I have heard of DS goin' to PICTOCHAT ONLINE but I don't think it's gonna be quite good, just like anything else that just comes out, with the information transfering such as Drawings, Words, etc.
