I realize the chances of a non-reserved DS being available are extremely low, but has anyone today, out of sheer luck, been able to buy a DS without having pre-ordered one? I ask because tomorrow I get my paycheck, and I plan to buy the first DS I can get my hands on, which all depends if my local game stores have the thing in stock.

I'm not really expecting anything miraculous. If I recall correctly, I reserved my PS2 the April before launch and was the last person on the reserve list to get the thing when it came out. I would imagine with it being the Holiday season and all, the DS could easily be as popular.

Its very unlikely because of the sheer number and shortage. But when the JAP DS is released expect many more DS' to make their long awaited appearence in your hand.
