People who stay closely with IGN and by this i mean reading their reviews and the sort, might have seen this interesting article made by one of the bias editors. Take a look.

"So, here's a shocker for you to mull over: when someone asks me if I recommend getting a Nintendo DS for the holidays, you know what I tell them? No. Save the cash and wait until next year. Why? Apart from having a better chance of scoring a system, the software will more portray the potential of the system come next year. The hardware system is indeed a cool, unique gadget, but it fails on offering a compelling line-up of cartridges to sell the features of the device. There's only one "must-have" game for the system, and it's mostly a recycling of a game that Nintendo produced ten years ago. For a company that's pushing a new gaming standard, Nintendo isn't showing a full support for it during its debut. It's more depending on third-parties to do that job, and several of them haven't done that great of a task, either."

Pretty long i know but, i ask, do any of you agree with what he is saying. I thought not

well i hate to say it, but hes kinda right. Only thing is though that it kinda reminds me of the gamecube. Yes i know the GC had some good Nintendo made games, but a good, good portion of the games were third party. Dont get me wrong im not saying its the same with the DS. Far from it. I feel that Nintendo will pull it together and actually make better games for the DS, while still having some third party support. I wouldnt like to see the third party games being the majority this time around, such as the GC, and hope Nintendo doesnt mess this system up too. Like i said dont think of me as a Nintendo hater or anything like that, i just feel they did a lousy job with the GC (unlike the N64 which i think during its time period they did an amazing job with... but i wont get into that) Either way im hoping Nintendo really comes out with a solid line of games (which they are next year...) that will fully utilize all of the aspects of the DS (Animal Crossing....online? That will be sick ^^)

You have brought up some really good points on my post. In a way yes, im quite dissapointed with the NGC but im pretty sure the DS will not do a repeat. Well, lets hope not. Im pretty sure it will do the same as GBA. But looking at the older audience. THNX for the reply!

RE: Do any of the mods know...

of course im always willing to give an opinion... but admit it the N64 rules the GC.. which is kinda sad heh. Well i dont mean graphically wise of course, but when it came to quality games... N64 dominated (Mario 64, both Zeldas, goldeneye, donkey kong 64... the list goes on and on...)
Yes the GC had games like animal crossing.... (both had Smash bros...) and metroid... but there arent too many high quality games (u cant tell me wind waker was too good.. i didnt mind the graphics but the story and sailing sucked... plain and simple....)

Well, thnx again for thanking my reply... or smthing like that..... =P

That's something I was thinking about.
Mario 64 is 8 years old, and was a launch title back then. Has it ever happened that the same game luanched two systems nearly a decade apart?
NDS will have great games next year (Metroid will be among them) but at this point the only game I'd really want is Mario 64 DS, most of the other titles would be metroids/zeldas and DKC1 for GBA.

But at just $200, the NDS is a great deal...
Does anyone know if it's being sold below cost? This happens often in the industry!

$200? $149! I agree it is a good deal, but I'm waiting until the PSP come out so the DS will drop its price, then I'll pick one up :)
