noob question

first of all hi! i am not only new to this forum but new to the ds as well.....in fact if i'm completely honest i dont actually own a ds . well i do but only because its sitting hidden in the bedroom wrapped up as a gift for my daughter who wont stop banging on about chuffing fantastic the ds is!

so my noob question......

whats the deal with all the games being sold on ebay, some say they are UK games, some say UK/US games & some are quite obviously Jap games. now i've searched hi & low and cant find the simple answer to my question.....

can i play imported games?

now i know the ds is supposed to be region free so will the only problem be a foreign language or is their something else i should know about?

sorry for asking what is probably a dumb question but the games on ebay are so much cheaper thean the high street, i dont want to get caught out buying some games for her that aren't going to work properly.

thanks

Yeah you can play imported games on your DS, but I'm not sure what you'd do about the language barrier. lol.

The DS is region free, so any licensed game will work on the DS fine. As far as the language barrier, you should be fine with imported games as long as they aren't from Japan. European games have several languages including English (or so I hear).

The majority of European games on the DS are English.
Heck you could walk into a games shop in Spain and the game you want would be in English.

I'm not sure but I think Spaniards typically know English fairly well, so that's probably not the best example but it works. I know some mod developers in Spain and they have an accent similar to the British.
Anyways, as far as I know all European games contain several languages by standard and maybe even by requirement. Something in the range of 6 - 12 I think. All of Europe gets the exact same game.
Someone actually living in Europe needs to jump in so I can stop making guesses.
