In a very Pac-man like mode, players looking to have an interesting little online experience with Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass will get just that...
In this 2-player versus mode, one player is Link and the other controls 3 armored guards. Link is controlled via the touch screen, just like he is in the single player. The guards are controlled by drawing direction paths on a map. The goal is to collect Triforce pieces and return them to your base avoiding the guards. If a guard gets Link, players swap jobs.
Guards can always see Link, but Link can only see them if he picks up a Triforce. This slows him down though. Also, Triforce pieces come in different sizes, the bigger they are the slower Link moves but the more points he gets.
Juts like Pac-Man, there are tunnels at the top and bottom of the map that transport back and forth, which are in a safe zone where the guards can't go. Link also goes off radar in these places, although if carrying a Triforce the guards can still see that moving.
There are also some power-ups for both sides that will boost speed or health, or possibly trigger some traps on the map.
While this mode hasn't been confirmed for online, the creator has confirmed you will be able to battle online with Phantom Hourglass, so it's likely this is the result of his meaning...
