RE: Re: RE: The PC
Shadow announced as of 22nd of Feb. Sony has gotten their butt on gear and is offerning replacements for the Square Button flaw. Cmon, check your news more often.
I meant that the fact that the reversed stereo wasn't noticed by testers was pathetic, not Nintendo's action afterwards. I am very pleased with their action. However, there is no getting around the fact that the Play-Yan was rushed and so was the DS, hence the crappy launch titles. But lets not get into that, that will cause arguments.

Sony is only admitting to the DPAD flaw, and not owning up to the defective transreflective displays. This is still unacceptable, especially since it's the 22nd of February and the device was launched over a month ago.
How long have PlayYan been available, and how soon has Nintendo responded with a fix? The point to all this, Sony want your money now, Nintendo wants your money forever. Regarding calling testing pathetic, I guess that's where I took offense, because you didn't say it was due to that fact. I can understand your point now, but still chalk that up to the fact that the PlayYan adds another sound port to your system, making an SP have 2 and a DS have 3. With sound output being that convoluted, I'd actually blame Ninty's engineers for that goof up :P

This is an issue in ALL PSP units, so they are recalling them all...? I think not. They will fix it for people who realize their unit has a potential breaking point. At some time in every PSPs life it will likely suffer from D pad or Square button sticking. So.. They didnt bite the bullet, they just hope to hell that the warranty runs out on most of the faulty units before the buttons break. Lets just hope they keep producing these badly "designed" boards for the PSP. It basically guarantees that somewhere down the line Nintendo can take a rest from trying to impress uninformed graphics junkies about the DS superiority and have a giggle at Sonys stupidity. Someone told me that sony recalled stocked PSPs before it was meant to launch in japan. Is this true? It sounds like utter BS, but i ahve to admit that at the time i was too busy playing my DS to check the news. Anyway if they did it doent matter given the current units faults. x999x said it best.. "Sony want your money now, Nintendo wants your money forever." |

RE: about the sims urban
Thanks for the quote Wovi ;)
Regarding the recall, it affected .6% of the initial shipment, and that equated to a number around 3,000. That's not really a lot when you've pushed well over a hundred thousand units. My problem is, that .6% only reflects the known number of defective units Sony still let out the door and into your hands. This also doesn't account for the humber of units with flying UMDs, or missing pixels. It would be interesting to see the percentages on those units, and ask yourself again why Sony opted to still sell them? Is Sony's ego worth more to it than the product it pushes? That's the undeniable feeling I keep getting with their firm stance on what they're willing to be accountable for.

Thank-you
Hrm? What about my post was edited?
Anyway, Sorry if I offended. I read the recall on slashdot about 4 seconds after I posted that (notice my post on that thread). Still, they knew about the defect all along, and denied it until they had enough units on the streets that it wouldn't seem as bad. Sony's customer service is a joke. |

well nintendo customers are in a great position. Take dead pixels on the ds. Legally they dont have to replace it unless it has 3 deaders per inch or a total of 10 (assuming the screens are subject to the same laws as laptop screens) however they cant afford the bad press that sony are getting over there attitude to the PSP. It is great that ninty will replace the unit if one pixel is dead even so they don't have to. It seems they learnt there lesson about treating customers like crap. Whrether sony will learn who knows?
