Playing GBA games in DS

Hi, I am new.

I am mostly playing Pokemon Diamond and have recently bought the GBA game Pokemon Ruby so I can transfer Pokemon to diamond eventually. I have found when I have both cards in that playing the DS game causes the GBA game to be deleted. I thought at first I had a bad cartridge but after a bit of trial and error have found that it is playing the DS game that causes it (although thankfully not the other way round!).

Obviously I just won't go leaving the GBA game in the slot in future but just wondering if this is common knowledge as read nothing about it in the DS instructions. It seems to be ok if I put the GBA game in after the DS game is running, so presumably that's how you do the transfers???

Wait...so if yo8u play your DS Pokemon your GBA save gets erased?
Yep thats a problem.

Yeah. So dud DS or dud game??? :/ haven't got any other GBAs to try.

My guess is the DS for the game isn't been used at the moment when you are playing a DS game so...
