Ultimate DS mod/accessory

I posted this on my site first (again), but I can't leave you guys in the dark when I have a cool DS idea...


I've been thinking about this for a long time now, I just need a place to keep the information and let others give input.

Here's the details:
1. Adds compatibility for GB and GBC games (GBA slot passthrough).
2. Adds wireless multiplayer support (online if possible) to GB-GBA games.
3. Adds online to "NiFi" only DS games (including PictoChat and Download Play if possible).
4. Includes extention port for multiplayer with GB-GBA systems.
5. GB-GBA game screen on top, touchable UI on bottom with controls for backlight, button configuration, sleep mode, and various other features.
6. RCA or S-Video A/V I/O capability if possible.
7. Ability to spectate games just by analizing packets, no sent data and unlimeted spectators, might need game inserted to spectate multi-card games.
8. Shows actual battery percentage and estimated time remaining if possible.
9. Shows all DS's in range using wireless and what app they're in, quick join for PictoChat, Download Play, and any inserted game supported by the device.
10. Backlight brightness control if possible.
11. Firmware updates for itself and any other capable hardware.
12. Save game storage and transfer, even for games without save capability (sort of like sleep mode).
13. Web browsing with most of the common languages (PHP, Java, Flash, etc.).
14. Ability to download and run some common file types.
15. Remote controlling of PC through WiFi, at least if the PC in on the same network.
16. Picture, audio, and video viewing of common formats, both streaming and stored.

Note: This mod should not alter or require altering of the DS hardware, it should only plug into the available ports on the DS.
Legal stuff er whatever: If anyone actually uses this idea in part or in whole, I probably won't ask for anything other than credit for the idea, and maybe the product for free or a big discount if it works. Since it would obviously have bugs for the first several versions, I'll help test and suggest.

I might build on this as I come up with ideas. Post your input of my 'Ultimate DS mod' or your idea of the 'Ultimate DS mod'.

It's the Nintendo proprietary wireless, the one that only DS uses.

Someone, probably someone in the DS modding community (or maybe even Nintendo if we get lucky) will need to make it. The device would need it's own user interface obviously, but it should be able to recognise when a game is trying to connect and what it's sending, which could be converted into a wireless format (the device manages the connections). To make things easy, GB-GBA games would be on the top screen (who doesn't like it up there?) and the device settings would be on the bottom screen with a touchable interface. It would probably need to include a Z80 CPU to handle GB/GBC instructions since the DS doesn't have one (which is why it can't play those older games). If it can't get the NiFi communications from the GBA slot, it'll probably either need a passthrough on the DS slot or just pick up the wireless signal and send it again as WiFi. The extention port probably doesn't need an explanation, it's likely the easiest thing to do.

while such idea would be cool id only buy if online was added for GB/C games, as an exra adaptor just to play GB/C games would be pointless as i could just play them in my SP.

I did it in order of what needs to be completed first, meaning I don't put something like "Add multiplayer support for GB-GBA" above "Add GB-GBC support". If that ordering doesn't get in the way, I have it in order of what I see is most wanted.
As I add more stuff to it, it'll probably get to be too much (too expensive and too bulky). The list is basically what I'd like to see done to the DS, whether it be one accessory or several, of coarse one would be the most handy (and coolest).

That's one ambitious mod. :)
