:? I was just wondering, would you have to buy any extra equipments to bring the DS online? I device to stuff in the GBA cartilage perhaps? Hopefully, the online capability is built in, but if it is not, I'd rather buy an extra equipment then to pay monthly (like Xbox). Any ideas? Comments? Or you know the answers to any of the questions above? :?

Nobody really knows much of anything as of yet. It's anybody's guess.

i think there will make you buy some thing to connect it to a pc vire a usb port or something just so its accessible to everyone with the internet.

but i would like them to maybe add an option where you buy a different gba cartridge that turns the ds different wireless protocols etc.. to normal one so they could work with any wireless hot spot or router.

that’s just what i think and want but as offday said no one really knows anything apart from Nintendo (at least i hope they know what there doing)lol :D

RE: who go the ds

I'm 95% sure it'll be software based to support the built-in WiFi, that means it's up to the game developer if there's any fees attached, and no extra hardware to buy (other than the wireless router). Knowing Nintendo, there probably won't be any fees for any games developed by them.

Wireless Router??? Right now Xlink is testing on a USB WiFi stick but I'm just gonna wait for Nintendo to come out with an online adapter. Which they have to do.

Why do they need to release an online adapter? What would the adapter do that a WiFi can't? Wiring the DS is the only reason for an adapter, and a move in the wrong direction, especially for a handheld already equipped with WiFi. Maybe it could allow existing games to use WiFi and connect online, but I haven't heard of anything like that yet.
Most people into PC's these days have broadband, and a majority of those with broadband have a router, wireless routers are quickly increasing in numbers too. If you have dialup or don't have a wireless router, you'll either need to upgrade that connection or buy a wireless router, or live with it by going to public access points.

Xlink is a third party that's tunneling the DS "NiFi" (the protocol used by current games) to allow non-WiFi-enabled games to play online. The current priority is the USB stick (only available in Europe and hard to import I might add), but it was originally a Linksys WRT54G router which I believe is now their second priority.
The USB WiFi stick will probably work with Xlink with any type of connection and the DS might be able to see it as an access point, but I can tell you now that Nintendo will keep the DS on wireless connections and nothing else for multiplayer.
Nintendo has nothing to do with Xlink or anyone else trying to tunnel or mod the DS, and since Nintendo has more control and knowledge about the DS than anyone else, they'll probably take a different path such as the software enabled WiFi as I described in my previous post and I've heard them vaguely mention several times.

I've been following the DS since E3 and while I don't completely know what the plans are, I'm very sure about what I say.
