I noticed the PSP has the ability to update it's firmware with what it has now, so I figured that leaves the DS at a disadvantage if it can't update it's firmware.
If it's possible, Nintendo would probably release a card to update the DS firmware, and from then on the firmware could be updated from the DS menu as it is with the PSP. It could also be included with one of Nintendo's WiFi enabled games to save money on production. Also, modders should be able to hack new firmware into the DS, which in turn could encourage Nintendo to release official firmware updates.

What do you think are possible update methods and features that could be added to the DS firmware? Try to keep it realistic...

Firmware updates

What in gods name would they add? It would be pointless.

They could add many things, such as a more in-depth calendar function, an organizer, a new version of PictoChat, an installer for something along the lines of Xbox Live for Nintendo DS...

The possibilities are endless...

RE: Re: RE: DS

They would need to implement software that can make the ds combatible with wep and maybe a web browser

Cyb0rgNinj4 all of those things are being made by third party devs so there would be no point.

But a firmware update would be better you wouldnt have to pay a dime for any of that. Maybe for a storage device but thats about it.

RE: Firmware updates

But why would they want to update it and for what reasons exactly. If they wanted to make a machine that would have all those functions and stuff they would've done that in the first place. Faffing around with add ons isn't good. More money being spent - good for Nintendo - Not so good for customers. We have already bought a DS and some peripherals (will do when some apppear!) we don't want to shed a load of money to make the system more advanced.

The two features I want to see most in the firmware is no more rebooting when switching between download/setup/Pictochat and built-in firmware updating (that would also include the ability to find and connect to secured WiFi access points). Firmware updates might not be strongly needed, but it helps a lot to have the capability.

RE: Beware dead pixels

Yeah, the whole shutdown-everytime thing is annoying.
