RE: To help clarify things...
Ive looked into this awhile and I just wanted to share my info on the matter. The ds uses 2 different types of wireless communication, standard wi-fi and thier own custon protocol with is dubbed ni-fi. The psp uses only standard wi-fi which is why they were able to go online first. The ds as of now uses ni-fi which has to be decrypted b/f it can be played off of regular wi-fi equipment (like your router). The ni-fi is used for local games to conserve power (which is why it requires a different protocol). Three groups are working to tunnel the ds. The first is xlink, with has the most promise having already tunnelled pictochat and the meteroid demo. The second is warp pipe aka demasked. They are very reserved about their info (with leads me to believe they are full of bs or have divine knowledge) so i dont know much about their progress. Only thing I know is that it is not a tunnelling service and is being released march (about the same time nintendo makes their "big anouncement"). Last is nitro who is a group of people I know nothing about who claimed they would tunnel the ds in 8 days with no success (pushed back the release date to god knows when). Also, the forum members of dsdev.com are analizing the ds and releasing promising info in regards to the system. In addition, as I stated before nintendo plans to make a big anouncement a few weeks before the psp comes out. It is rumored to be about their online plans b/c they stated that if they did have internet play for the ds it would be free of charge (since you already spent money on the system and the game).
There, a garble of info that will help clarify matters for all of you.
there you go now you dont have to scroll down link. :D
