Router Modem I dont know!!

K i have 1 computer with high speed internet and a modem i dont know what a router is and i dont know if i have one can someone plz tell me if i can go online witha ds and what a router is and how to check if i have one thnx

A router is an external box that connects to the internet, it's not inside your computer, it'll usually have a few ports on it that connect to the router and the computer.

Yes i have a small back box with all thse cords connected to it is this it i thought this was the modem

you should have a high speed modem, and maybe a router too...
you probably won't have a wireless one, so you'll need to buy one.

That said DON'T bother buying anything until Nintendo tell you what you will need.

Wireless routers will let you plug 4 computers (or print sever's or hard-drives [specail ones])
and wirelessly hook up about 256 wireless devices (ie your DS)

The modem and router are the same thing, well they are for me, my modem is built into my router, and ur DS won't be able to go online anyway (NOT YET ANYWAY :D)
