Lkr, you are the
last person who should be talking about n00bs...
No, he's not saying we can't have our tournaments whenever we want, he's saying that our PUBLICLY ADVERTISED tournaments (the ones we want other people to join) shouldn't be held at the same time, because then either one or the other wouldn't have as many players.
Also, who are you to say all of our tournaments are to be private? Hm? What if we want a large, public tournament every so often? Eh?
You are not in charge, and therefore should not speak for the actual planners of the Wi-Fi events. Obviously, our public tournaments can be held at whatever time we feel, but in order to maintain (contain) all the people wanting to join (and to just generally make things easier), they shouldn't be held at the same time as another site's public tournament.
Hell, I know it'd be fun to pwn Lkr (as we all will), but occasionally I like to break away from the norm and play random people. That's pretty much the goal of our online experience: to introduce different people who enjoy the same games, etc. Obviously, disruptive new members would be fiercely dealt with and are easily controlled.
Honestly, are you guys
that afraid of some change? Are you afraid to interact with other people beyond these forums? I can't see any proper reasoning behind not wanting to hold public tournaments (aided by having players join from other sites) as well as our own, private TouchDS tournaments for our members only. No, we won't become "identical" or all that nonsense, it's simply a way to properly facilitate and extend the infrastructure in a more managable and accessible way. We want to provide a solution for DS Wi-Fi players the world over, to have access to tournaments from a particular site, as well as a general DS community tournament every so often.
This isn't PC online, nor Xbox Live. There are no headsets (yet?). The only real means of communication is text. What's so bad about a n00b every now and then? Just pwn him and move on. He's not going to h4x0r your c0mpz0rz. Who knows, some of the new members gained could prove to be valuable members in the future. Just look at some of our recent new members like Rechargd.
Just wait until we get our Wi-Fi plans sorted out; then you can complain.
