There's still the issue with the key while online though, you'll probably run into it a lot, considering even I've had the problem with a legal copy probably due to people using keygens.

yeah, i'll just use a keygen and write down one that works, if any.
Then if any do work, it'l be my "legal" key.

It only blocks out multiple keys being used at the same time as far as I know, so it could be a long time before you find out for sure if one is unused. Honestly though, are you really so broke that you can't buy the greatest game of its time with all it's expansions for a mere $20 (or the worth in a different currency)?

Did you use a converter? XE.com converts $20 to 10.4682 pounds. Amazon.co.uk has it for 6 pounds.
I hate when people not only pirate great games, but when they pirate great games that cost almost nothing. If you truly can't afford anything, play demos or freeware or abandonware (http://www.the-underdogs.org), they always keep me more than satisfied when the full version games I have get boring (as if that ever happens any more).
