I like that guy.
A couple problems with his post though: He makes it sound like HDTV is a necessary feature, and if you say otherwise you're a fanboy. This is far from the truth. HDTV is expensive, maybe nintendo doesn't want gamers to have to pay more. Xbox 360 won't require 360 (I think), and PS3 will, and that fits them well with their likely price range anyway...
As for what he said about their rating system, I love it. I trust them more than any other source, no matter what they say. Oh, with the exclusion of their mario kart scores, those were just insane

. If they give a game 9+, I know it's good. Even though I don't have an xbox, a friend of mine that loves games, but is too lazy to look up scores asks me whether a game is worth it, and then I go to gamespot. I compare that to other games that they like, and read the reviews. I even turned him onto UC2. thanks to them.
As for the sales figures... I didn't use to use them. I use to use argument, until I started getting in heated arguments with a "friend" at the lunch table, in which he spewed out facts about the psp that I didn't know to be true (and in fact turned out to be false). Heck, I get most of the figures I've used recently from gamespot's own article titled "DS edging out PSP in Japan".
Hehe, xbrick.
"It makes perfect sense to insult a company's lineup one moment and at the same time hope that company will go third party and develop for your console the next."
I wish more people thought of this. I have both been very mean to the xbox's lineup, and also hoped they'd develop for nintendo systems, but not for the purpose of playing them, but so the halo freaks could be introduced to something better rather than trash it to my face.
"In other words, the rest of us non-fanboys are doomed to a life of playing the best games and enjoying our hobby, while you will have the luxury of being able to ignore the majority of games that come out, because they're not on your console. That is indeed very lucky for you all."
Did I mention I like this guy?
I just hope that in defence people don't start using this article to call you a fanboy every time you do use sales figures, or anything else similar.
