First Person Shooter Games (PC)

I've been being old-school and playing Team Fortress Classic (the game WAY before CS 1.5) and Unreal Tournament (at school - 8 player LAN). It wasn't until recently when I really got into the next-gen(ish) FPS: I'm playing co-op Doom 3 and finishing off HL2: Episode 1. <3

Does anyone recommend any FPS games (doesn't have to be next-gen)? I tried FEAR, and GRAW but they crash on my school's computer, which is sadly x100 better than the one at home.

UT04 is awesome. The demo is full multiplayer. Dozens of great mods. All kinds of stuff. Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory is free, and good.

I agree with ShadowMarth, but to clarify, the UT2004 demo is compatible with the full version, meaning full version players can join demo servers.
I highly recommend BF1942 if you haven't tried it, it's has a great old-school style to it and it's very fun using all the vehicles (especially jeeps and planes) and doing stunts. It's my favorite FPS of all time if not my favorite game, and it has a wealth of mods such as Desert Combat, which is similar to BF2 except it has a wider variety of vehicles. BF2 is almost equally good, but I still prefer BF1942 for the originality and uniqueness, not to mention nostalgia.
Quake2 is my second favorite FPS, it was the first FPS I really got into right after I got my first PC and one of the major reasons I still play it is because of the nostalgia. As with the other games mentioned above, Q2 has a good number of mods, my favorite being NIQ (No Item Quake).
Raven Shield is a more modern FPS based more on team strategy than fast paced action, but it still does get intense and you can go lone wolf in single player if you don't want an AI team following you around.
Rogue Spear is like Raven Shield, but with Raven Shield around, it's only good for nostalgia and copying for LAN multiplayer.

Umm... UT2K4 is a game no one plays and if SM tells me to join one of his servers it's definitely going to be a place I'm not going to go. Part of that was ripped from Seas1Ep10 of PurePwnage, Purely true if I might add. That game sucks compared to other games I've played, so I'm gonna have to turn you to CS:Source, and agree with Pilot on BF1942. Umm... another one you could get is BF2 because it's more of a modern war game with that present touch so you don't have to worry about it being to futuristic or too old school.

CS is THE most overrated series IN EXISTENCE. UT04 is actually fun, and it has more than one crappy game mode. And every other person doesn't cheat. And you don't have to mess with Steam. Not to mention, it's actually a good game, unlike CS. I tried it, because it's so popular, but it was an utter and complete pile of ****.

Judge for yourself. UT04 has a high-quality demo. CS doesn't even have a high-quality game.

So you're saying it's "purely true" that no-one plays UT? I could easily hop on and find ten well-populated servers of any gametype. And you've never even played the game for any real amount of time. You told me so yourself.

I just tried the UT04 demo. And it seemed pretty fun -- until it started lagging like a bytch; getting 20fps. I will install it on my school computer and see. Thanks for the suggestion xD

I used to play CS but now, ugh. It's too over-rated, I personally will play TFC over CS any day.
