Well to the eye, there is no answer but im sure someone in the community can compare specs better than i can.

well, hypothetically, the Gamecube has the edge over the PS2, graphics-wise, but the PS2 disc can hold more information, so during cut-scenes, PS2 games will normally look 4352145937845693487 times better.

So... basically it just depends on which way you look at it, if you wanna know who has the power, its the gamecube, if you want to know who has the capacity, its the ps2.

PS2 has a much slower CPU in it than the GCN does. The PS2 has a proc called the 'emotion engine' running at about 300 MHz. The GCN's operates at 485 MHz. As for RAM, the PS2 has 32 MB, wheras the GCN has 40 MB. The graphics proc in the PS2 operates at 150 MHz, and the GCN's operates at 162 MHz. GCN discs hold less than their PS2 counterparts, but some games come on multiple discs anyway.

So, the GCN wins in pure system power/capabilities.

Gamecube is technically, and if you've played RE4 you'll know is to the eye the graphically superior console of the two.

Xbox is better than them both however, but I dont care for that console.

it really depends on the game though, because Metroid Prime got "best graphics" on G4TechTV's show "Filter", over quite a few xbox games.

yea but that was prolly before halo2 came out...
ne way GC wins with graphics but it was out almost 2 years after ps2 so its prolly got more to date graphics cards or engine w/e they call it..

the gamecube did not come out 2 years after the PS2.
