At a lavish Berlin launch event to celebrate the March release of PAL versions of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the creator and director Hideo Kojima informed assembled journalists that, while Snake Eater did indeed wrap up his initial Solid trilogy, he will be involved with a fourth Metal Gear Solid title.

Kojima has been touring Europe promoting the latest in the highly acclaimed series.

The confirmation of a fourth installment in the best-selling stealth operative series is a major announcement during the current launch promotion of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. For the as-yet unnamed title, which is currently in the planning stages, Kojima will act as Head of Development, serving as the Executive Producer and be responsible for the game plan. Leading the whole development, he has assigned Yoji Shinkawa as the Character Designer and Kenichiro Imaizumi as Producer.

No further details are available on the fourth Metal Gear Solid title, but Konami says it will make further announcements in the run up to its release.

It'll probably be on the PS3... and most likely on the other next gen consoles. Same it has always been (most of the time).
