Well, I finally got one of those flashroms for the GBA. Although I never really thought I'd want one, the idea of ditching my 6 cartridges and packing them into 1 really sounded too good to pass up.
So, I got one. I'm really liking this thing, I've managed to fit all my games on it, as well quite a few games for other emulators like PocketNES and Goomba (GB emulator.) On the video side of things, I'm pretty impressed. You're not going to get full length movies on the thing, that's for certain, but you can fit music videos and short films like clone war episodes :) I've encoded some Tenacious D episodes to about 12 megs each, I think that's somewhere around 100 or so megabits, which isn't much on a 512. Oh yeah, the PunchOut arcade emulator is pretty cool :) :)

RE: **SPLINTER CELL DS**
Well, I honestly wish you could buy these things at bestbuy, but the answer is No.
These are rather shady devices with two sides to them. The one side that we all want to think is it's only "true" purpose, is to run emulators, movies, picture viewers, and other great homebrew software. The flip side of things is, Yes, you can bust out gba roms and the like on it. What I have done is backed up all my gba games in my DS bag, and compiled them into just 1 cart, my Xrom 512, to help me with cutting down my cargo of time-killers in my backpack. You can find more info on the Xrom, and how to buy it here: http://www.gameboy-advance.net/flash_card/gba_X-ROM.htm It's 84 bux, a little under 100 with shipping. This device requires a GBA or SP to run, as it uses the old multiplayer link port to tap into the gba's cartridge port via the "hold start + select" boot sequence that sets the gba into a single cart slave awaiting for a multiboot header. I'm still working out the kinks with getting all this homebrew stuff to work, but overall, I'm very pleased.

RE: Great LOZ fan-site that i found
I love it when people use the terms "shady" and "devices" in the same sentence. :P
It's a great way to compile several GBA games into the same cart. Of course, it's best if you legally own the games in the first place... heh. |
