Can WoW really be worth the extra some $200/year versus some $50/once for a slightly lower quality game? I don't think so. And you know my position on the matter, no monthly costs and never over $100 for a game no matter what, there's always great games at reasonably low prices and even free download. Only professional gamers that actually get a profit from playing those expensive games should really be playing, everyone else is either throwing away money or doesn't have a life outside of gaming.

Hold it right there. GW is NOT inferior to WoW, and it certainly isn't "lower quality." It's a great, fun game with 100s of hours of single player and much more in PvP, and that's without the expansions. Blizzard is an amazing developer, and they make amazing games, but they just tend to like pissing people off some times. What with the strange patch updates, messed up changes in BC, the subscription fee to begin with, and the fact that they have abandoned all other of their amazing games for this one. I want SC2 damn it!

However blizzard still wins in the end, since I finally found a game to rip my impoverished friends away from WoW. Starcraft. Hrm, guess I havn't actually give a straight answer to this thread yet... So, I say X-Com, Starcraft, and Guild Wars, in that order. Civ IV is up there though, as are countless others...

What's DoaC? And no i haven't spent much time on WoW coz, like Pilot, i don't like monthly costs. I have enough to spend my money on, without adding some game to the list.
What is it about Starcraft that people like so much? i played it for a couple of hours and found it boring me. I found AoEII more fun than Starcraft.
Shadow, how can you have played GW 430 odd hours? Do you leave it on overnight or something? >_<

Lol, no, but I've had it over a year, and I liked it quite a lot. I've finished the main game with four characters, love the PvP, all that stuff.

You should download the Starcraft demo at least. Easy download, too bad you only get to play multiplayer as terran with it.

I never directly referred to GW, I was just making a point that lower quality games are worth buying once than higher quality games are worth buying lots of times as long as you want to play it. I was sorta going off of what it seems Mormon thinks of GW, but personally I have no opinion on the gameplay of either of them since I never played them, my points were on price, and examples of gameplay quality to reinforce it.

No, it's not. It's just different. WoW is more of a traditional MMORPG, what with the insane never-ending grinding, and all the constant questing. Well, GW has that, but it's not so intense. It's more skill-based, and less abour getting 200g or three more levels. I prefer it actually, because it doesn't consume all my time, though obviously I've spent quite a lot of time on it, and it's freaking free.

It's really a matter of preference.

I downloaded the whole game, it sucked. As i said before, i got bored really quickly. BTW, is there only one Starcraft out at the moment?
