But the PvP is one of the best and most unique things about GW. It was a great differentiator between in and other MMOs. Now Blizzard is more or less doing a lot to change some of the more unique things about WoW into bland overcoatings of GW. For instance, the Honor System was great in WoW. Now they're doing away with the ladder and turning it into the faction system of GW for PvP characters. Possibly worst of all, they seem to be making PvP only characters precicely like Guild Wars, exchanging the extensive leveling and work to overcoat their PvP system with the quick easy play of GW. Player versus Player combat will receive a major overhaul in Burning Crusade, one far greater than the upcoming cross-server battlegrounds system Blizzard recently detailed. Burning Crusade will introduce "Arena PvP." Lead designer Tom Chilton explains this new form of PvP: "It uses a team-based approach. So, much like forming a guild, you can form an arena team. You'll be able to go and get yourself an arena team charter; it can be for a 2-on-2 format, a 3-on-3 format or a 5-on-5 format." Chilton continues, "For example, for a 2-on-2 team you could have four people on the roster. For a 5-on-5 team you could have 10 people on a roster. You can have your substitutes, your benchwarmers, etc. And that should make it interesting, because we use a seasonal-based concept for the arenas. So you form your team, and your team may change in rating throughout the season. At the end of each week, based on your team's rating, you get a number of points that you can spend on the gear."
