f it were on the PS2 or Gamecube (regardless, if it were multi platform, or even if it was a GC or PS exclusive), for example, it wouldnt be as big as it is now, reason? When the Xbox came out, the new owners were clinging to the first exclusive game they could call their own, their 'flagship' title. Same story with Gear of War actually. Because the Xbox fanbase is quite newly established, its quite insecure when it comes to exclusives.

I had a GC and a PS2 before I ever even touched Halo, but once I did, it became my favorite game ever and has remained so.

So I wouldn't say that it's only considered great because xbox fanboys need some exclusive to hang on to.

Well, I don't say that's why people like it. I say that's why it's so terribly overhyped. People like it because it's an all-around good FPS. Of course, there are better FPS games anywhere you look on the PC, but ignorant slobs are a large part of halo fans.

Ok yeah that probably did contribute greatly to the hype, but don't just assume that everyone would prefer PC shooters if they weren't so into the mainstream console games. I own Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, Half Life 2, and Counterstrike Source and I still prefer Halo to all of them. Its all just personal taste.
